Offline VS Online Auctions

This article is purely going to be one based on preference. I wont bring to you information that will try and convince you on which type of auction is better. Basically, I will try and be honest/fair (and not biased) to provide you with the pros and cons of offline and online auctions.

We can all agree that offline auctions are a lot more enjoyable: it’s a whole show and those skilled people that speak so fast really make it worth watching. Especially if you are not in the race and you are just a viewer, it can get quite entertaining watching the contestants try and fight for that valuable item they so much want. You look at them sweat and raise up the stakes for no good reason (just so that the other guy is stuck with the bill) and it’s all good, until you are the one actually in the pit. Offline auctions (as in all auctions) have many people that are existent in the competition simply to raise the prices. So there may be some valuable pieces of jewelry that you may want so badly, but there will be people in the room just to make you bid much higher than you actually would. If you let it get out of control, you may end up paying 10X the amount you should have, so you need to be careful.

In online auctions, one problem can be the condition in which the product is in. Since you don’t have it in front of you to view it and assess the quality, you may pay a lot of money on something that won’t be as exciting as you thought it would be for you. Then you will regret it badly and basically never go to auctions again. If there is a way for you to demand from the auctioneer to give you a glimpse at the real deal, make sure you take advantage of that. You wouldn’t like to start unwrapping the box and find it’s slightly chipped or something like that. Also, in online auctions, as mentioned in the latest article there can be some hack issues. When you try to put in your payments, it is very likely that someone will snap it on the other end. That’s why you need to make sure you are working under reputable platforms.

When it comes to auctions that take place online, many times the shipping may be a difficulty. If people are bidding for the product from all over the world and it’s a large item, then you may end up paying some very expensive transportation fees. When you are bidding, make sure you keep in mind that you will need to pay for that item to reach your doorstep. So set aside a separate budget just for that.

Offline auctions are way more traditional: this is how auctions used to take place in much older days, and the thrill of being there and having an active audience was just to capturing for everyone. There is just so much energy and happiness in the air. Even soar losers have a good time at auctions. Also you get to know more about actual values of items. For instance if there is some very rare gun that is being sold and you were wondering the other day what that would go for: you got it! Look no more. It really helps you estimate and evaluate product value which will serve you for a much greater period of time in your life. Offline auctions are also places where you can bring your children: usually there isn’t any bad language and they can have some fun with the way the presenter speaks. The excitement is something that should make your children smile a little bit.

Online auctions are kind of boring: you are just looking at a screen and some products that are increasing in cost by the minutes. It’s very robotic and for anyone used to the good old auctions, this can pose a problem. Also, many people may not be technical with computers and placing in their bids at the right time. That means that they can potentially lose money.

Take your pick my friend: offline and more traditional or online and more millennial (with all the crap that carries?)

Let me know!
